BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Akshar Deri Gondal

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir at Akshar Deri — known around Gondal simply as Akshar Mandir — is the town's largest temple complex, built around the memorial shrine of Gunatitanand Swami on the bank of the Gondali river. The campus holds the Yogi Smruti Mandir, a museum, a food court and a children's area, and most visitors spend close to two hours here for darshan and pradakshina. Darshan is open 7:00-10:30 am, 11:00 am-12:15 pm and 6:30-8:30 pm every day. The evening light and sound show after sandhya aarti - free to attend, usually between 7 and 8 pm depending on the season - is what many families come for. There is a free parking lot, wheelchair-accessible entrance and restrooms, and guest rooms on the campus that fill up at weekends, so book ahead.
